"De olho nos Mananciais" da Borda do Campo II

Yesterday we ( Instituto Paradigma e EMEIEF Chico Mendes) finished our project in Recreio da Borda do Campo. The project is part of an action (by Instituto Socioambiental and Estúdio Madalena) to register and show the conditions of São Paulo's water supplies.
Recreio da Borda do Campo sits just by Billings Dam, one of the cities major water supplies..... so with help from a local public school (EMEIEF Chico Mendes) we invited
kids (from 8 to 10 years old) and their parents to register their community. All kids where giving cameras, no photography lessons where giving to them...they just learned how to click and where told to have fun!! The discussions where not about photography, but about community and environmental issues concerning there daily life’s. After shooting, 10 pictures from each participant was selected to become a big outdoor exhibit (pictures where printed in A4 paper and glued to the schools walls...just like an urban intervention). Yesterday we put up the pictures...kids went crazy seeing there work all together in a big panel, their portrait of the community they live in.... it was also great to see the way they took over the school, it was their space!!

Check out the kid's photos HERE
